Privacy policy

You sold your soul, we won’t sell your data

Last updated: 01/10/25

1. Introduction

Nobody ever wants to read one of these.
But because we operate in the UK, and because data protection is apparently serious business, here’s how we handle your personal information when you visit, browse, or buy from propermugged.co.uk (“the Site”).

We collect what’s necessary, keep it safe, and never sell it.
We’re in the mug business, not the data business.

2. Who We Are

Proper Mugged (Registered as Valour & Venture Limited)
Registered in England and Wales.
Registered office: 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE
Email: corporate@propermugged.co.uk

For all data or privacy questions, drop us an email. We’ll deal with it promptly, and probably make another coffee while we do.

3. What We Collect

a) Information You Provide

When you:

  • Place an order
  • Create an account
  • Subscribe to our mailing list
  • Contact us directly

…we collect details like your name, address, email, and payment info.
Payment data is handled by Stripe or PayPal, and we never see or store your full card details.

b) Automatic Information

When you visit the Site, basic analytics tools collect:

  • IP address
  • Browser/device type
  • Pages visited and time spent

This data is anonymous and helps us figure out which pages people actually read.

c) Marketing Information

If you join our mailing list, we’ll occasionally email you about new products, offers, or updates.
You can unsubscribe at any time, there’s no passive-aggressive follow-ups.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Process and deliver your orders
  • Handle customer service queries
  • Improve the website and your experience
  • Send marketing emails (if you’ve opted in)

We don’t sell or share your data for other companies’ marketing.
We’re too busy writing sarcastic captions.

5. Sharing Your Data

We only share your information with:

  • Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal)
  • Print and shipping partners (for fulfilment)
  • Analytics tools (like Google Analytics or Meta Ads)

All partners comply with GDPR or equivalent data standards.
We never allow third parties to use your info for their own gain.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as needed for:

  • Order fulfilment
  • Accounting and tax purposes (usually up to six years)

Email subscribers remain on the list until they unsubscribe, at which point we delete their details entirely.

7. Cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Keep the site working properly
  • Remember what’s in your cart
  • Analyse traffic and performance

You can disable cookies in your browser if you prefer.
Just note: checkout might stop working, and life will get mildly inconvenient.

See our Cookies Policy for the full rundown.

8. Your Rights (Under UK GDPR)

You can:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal data
  • Request corrections or deletion
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent for marketing

Just email corporate@propermugged.co.uk — we’ll respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We use SSL encryption, secure servers, and vetted service providers.
If something ever goes wrong (highly unlikely), we’ll notify affected users and the ICO as required by law.

10. International Transfers

Some data (like analytics or printing) may be processed outside the UK.
We only work with partners who meet equivalent data protection standards, and usually via Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved mechanisms.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect new laws or practices.
The latest version will always live here.
We won’t spam you about it, but you can check back if you’re that kind of person.
